I wake up before everyone else in the house to get ready for the day and have some time to myself. I check my Oura ring to see if I’ve slept yet. I try to make fun of how bad my grades usually are. Because: What’s the point of sleeping when you have seven kids, 11 and under? I do the dishes and this is my product! I get a glass of water and make coffee, then take the pups out onto the balcony. I made a lawn for them, which is a real lifesaver in the city!

My kids are still sleeping and I go for a run. I recently got Beats Pro and they don’t fall off when I work out. My favorite running shoes are the Whitin women’s minimalist running shoes because I like to feel the ground when I run. My trusty fanny pack is falling apart, but I’m emotionally attached to it and it fits my phone well. Running helps me stay calm and focused throughout the day, and New York City is so peaceful in the morning. I have ADHD and learned from a young age that I have to move my body every day to feel centered and my best self. It’s no wonder I make exercise my job. Even when I was teaching yoga all day, I still saw my practice as “me time” between classes; it was always necessary for my mental health. Now that I have kids, I schedule my practice time to work out when it works best for them. Usually before they wake up or between work and meetings. On weekends, the kids are home, but I’ve learned to free myself from guilt by telling them that I need to take care of myself too—both physically and mentally. I hope they see it as an invitation to do the same.

Once we had a workshop and a cast, all we needed was a theater. Plays are very personal, so a big theater for a musical wouldn’t cut it. We needed something more intimate.
